Cocktails at Claridges....Mmmmmmmm

                                                                                                             

This was the garden just two weeks ago. After 24 hours of wind
and rain it's a sad sight now. Ah well...that'll be autumn come a
knocking.

Dragon Fruit

Frances Law

Frances Law's new exhibition is in The Queen's Cross Church
in Glasgow. The Church was designed by Charles Rennie
Mackintosh and is headquarters to the Mackintosh Society.
Frances's works which are based on the interiors of shells
found on Iona work very well in this setting.  Fir the next few
weeks these works can be seen here. Frances was an Aspect
Prize finalist in 2010.

Went to visit Risotto Studios at The Glue Factory in Farnell
Street, Glasgow G4 9SE.
Risotto Studios specialise in Risograph printing. Worth exploring.
They have a fabulous web site.

The Shard looks great as you look up at it but it looks very odd
sitting there in the street.

Solo exhibition

Opening on Sunday September 22nd at The Stafford Gallery

drawings and paintings in my solo show.

Corrour Station House Restaurant

This the wonderful Corrour Station House Restaurant. Owned
by the Corrour Estate it is now run by a delightful young couple
Ollie and Lizzie. Lizzie is front of house and Ollie is the chef
and a damned fine chef too.
Set on the wilds of Rannoch Moor, the best way of getting there
is by train. You can go by road but there is over half an hours
drive on estate roads and a four wheel drive vehicle is a necessity.
They have three rooms available which are clean and comfortable.

We took the Mallaig train from Queen Street in Glasgow but for
those of you who live further south, the sleeper from London stops
at Corrour. If you really want to get away from it all this is a good
place. Lots of nice walks. We walked down the side of Loch
Ossian.

At 47 inches square this is the largest painting going to
Wimbledon for my solo exhibition in September.
This is 'Landing Posts, Stonington'.  Stonington is
on Deer Island in Maine. Lovely place.

Swan on Tannoch Loch.

Been up to my neck with work and the house in Beith for the last
couple of weeks so please excuse my absence. I'll soon have
images of paintings for the solo exhibition in Wimbledon which
opens September 22nd.

In the garden. Hard to believe it's the west of Scotland after
the last few years.

Way back in the autumn, this large painting of Newton Ferrers
in South Devon was happily sitting in The Brownston Gallery
in Modbury when a chap came in and bought it. Turned out
the credit card was either stolen or forged and despite the
gallery double checking with the card company before
proceeding with the sale, the card company accepted it.
Only later when the fraud was uncovered did the card company
take the full amount from the gallery and pass it to the person
whose card had been stolen/forged. The Police were after this
particular gang of art thieves and took up the chase. Well done
the boys in blue...the thieves have been apprehended and two
paintings were recovered. One was mine. Much relief all round.
The painting will be finding it's way back to the gallery any day.

Rowena Comrie

In this Rowena's first solo show in Scotland, there is a great
selection of work filling both the cafe area in the House For
An Art Lover and side rooms. Hot on the heels of her
successful solo show in the States, this is a cracker. It runs
from now until September 2nd. If you are in Glasgow go and
see it.
