If you are in the Languedoc heading north east of Carcassone,
you might find yourself near Siran. Just inside the outer circle
street (these towns tend to be circular) is the lovely L'Ancienne
Forge gallery. Run by Jane Darling and Nick Ainsworth, this
delightful gallery is in an old house beautifully and simply
decorated to retain it's character.
Nick and Jane also have their own olive grove outside town and
sell their olive oil in the gallery.

About twenty five years ago I got to drive one of these out in Germany.
Didn't drive it very far but it was a thrill.

Concorde at the Fleet Air Arm Museum.

Scenes from the lost village of Tyneham. The military moved
everyone out of the village and surrounding farms in the
War to use the area as a rehearsal base for the D-Day landings.
They told everyone that they could return after the war. Somehow
that never happened and the whole area remains as a live firing
range. Now, at the weekends, live firing is suspended and people
are allowed to visit the village.

Stourhead in Wiltshire.

At a family gathering in north Dorset last week I decided to
go on a little trip through history. My grandfather was an
engineer and right hand man to George Brough of Brough
Superior Motorbikes in Nottingham. One of their clients was
TE Lawrence who, over several years, owned seven Brough
Superiors. Grandad knew him very well so I thought I'd visit
Lawrences grave and his cottage at Clouds Hill just down the
road from Bovington where the Tank Museum is situated.
Lawrences country cottage is very small and in the garden a
wee garage built to house his Brough Superior. I didn't expect to
see one of his motorbikes but was delighted to find one on display
in the Tank Museum along with the amazing display of armoured
vehicles.
Made my day.

'Glasgow Haiku'. An exhibition by Group 13 Artists.

This is a collection of paintings with Haiku's based on Glasgow.

Well worth seeing. The paintings and haiku's I've seen so far

promise a great exhibition.

I have four...and if I'm lucky, five paintings/haiku's in the

exhibition.

The exhibition runs until Saturday December 1st

This is the other painting in the RGI Annual Exhibition.
It's Venice, it's a small painting...approx 10"x8"

The RGI Annual exhibition opened on Saturday and runs until
Sat Oct 6th. Venue...The Mitchell Library, Glasgow. I have two
paintings in the show. The one above is Charlotteville, Tobago.
It's a largish painting, approx 32 inches wide.

This is the wee house we rented in France. Isn't it fab.
We will go back there.

Love the texture.

This is a nice bit of wall in France. I like the graffiti lettering
and the distressed wall surface. Looks better in black and white.

There are so many visual moments that we just scan with our eyes
and ignore. Yet if you take a moment and look at the every day that
is around us there are some exciting, abstract details. This is on a
station platform. Like this it is concrete poetry, a textural delight
and a profound statement.

Please excuse my partial absence...I'm currently filming
with the BBC and my days are filled with drama. More later.
