More Huck Bergius images

Couldn't resist more images of Huck Bergius's lovely

stained glass crosses.

Found this in amongst old family photos. Not sure

who it belongs to. A friend who knows a lot about

cars says it's a Daimler. I suppose we are looking at

sometime around 1920. Great car. I know my

great grandfather had a car but was it a Daimler?

Last week brought snow and mist. Always an interesting combination.

It was wet snow so didn't last. Would be nice to have a couple of weeks

of dry snow and blue skies.

A wee bit of Mexican decoration

Huck Bergius

These fabulous crosses are made by Glasgow based Huck Bergius.

Huck uses hand made antique English stained glass. The crosses

are approximately 25 cms by 17 cms. Hang them in windows, prop

them on windowsills. I have mine sitting on the mantlepiece.

There are more photographs which I will put up in a day or two.

Brough Superior motorbikes

This is a very rare photograph of the workshop owned by

George Brough where Brough Superior motorbikes were made.

My Grandfather was an engineer for Brough and worked on the

bike made for TE Lawrence. I sent a copy of the photo to the

Brough Superior Club and they loved it. We are awaiting any

responses to it being published in their newsletter.

The works were in Nottingham.

Annette Edgar

A visit to Annette Edgar's studio is always a treat. When I

found a swathe of oil sketches stapled to the wall I was

very excited and determined to leave with one...which

I did. It's a wee beauty and I'm looking forward to having

it framed.

Dunure

Went for a walk along the shore at Dunure. A very windy

and dramatic experience. It was terrific.

Tim Dann

Tim Dann is a sculptor living and working in Chelsea.

Brought up in Uganda, he studied at Birmingham

School of Art after which he joined the BBC as a set

designer eventually becoming freelance and working

on many TV commercials.

Now he works as a sculptor making detailed and

wonderful works many of which are based on

his life long love of Africa where he has a home.

Another version of the Mexican Angel

A wee Mexican angel

The Lewis Man

For those of you who read The Black House (highest selling

Scottish crime thriller in 2011 in Scotland), the second in

the series has just been published. I started it last night.

Am hooked already.

Lovely colourful pegs on a Greek fishing boat.

The Lone Ranger

For those of you brought up in the fifties, The Lone Ranger was the

greatest show on TV. My Mum made me a Lone Ranger outfit when

I was about six and I used to swagger round Rutherglen Park (which

was opposite our house) with my six guns and my stetson.

Friends have given us this life size Lone Ranger and Tonto and the

fabulous wee badge which I'm told pre dates the TV series. All these

were sent years ago from Ohio. The only Sunday Herald and Examiner

(as on the badge) that I can find was based in LA and folded in 1989

A little more old wooden letterpress

A look at a few of the wooden letterpress letters in our collection.

Very few printers still use these. There is one, I think in Nashville,

who is famous for still creating works on the old printing presses.

Still in Greece. These roadside shrines are everywhere.

I like this photograph. Something went horribly wrong but the end

result is very interesting. Every so often this happens.

Another wee sketch from Beaujolais.

Here's a sketch looking from Moiré in Beaujolais towards

Bagnols. Might get a few of these framed.

Another wee sketch to take our minds off the weather.

This one is in Beaujolais. Looking through the gates of

the chateau in Moiré from the courtyard.

Happy New Year everyone. Ah how I would like to feast your

eyes on snow scenes with blue skies and deep frosts. No such

luck. The weather here is ghastly, wet, dark, windy and generally

horrid. Somehow we survived today's storm with relatively

little damage.

Instead here's a sketch I did in Balthazars in New York.

It's a cheery little thing. Balthazars is as French as it gets

in NYC and a great place for brunch.

Couple of sculptures in the studio of George Parsonage.

George works in the boat shed on the Clyde at Glasgow

Green. This is the base of The Glasgow Humane Society

which has been run by George for many years and his

father Ben before him. The Society is a charity who

look after the safety of those on the river within the city.

They desperately need funding for more lifebelts and

the general running which includes clearing debris and

on occasions, recovering the bodies of those unfortunate

enough to come to grief.

Another wee painting that will be heading down to Devon

in April.

Back when I was living in Texas in the mid seventies the

technician in the art department was a great fella called

Terry Willoughby and this was the number plate on his

pick up. I always admired it and he gave it to me as a

leaving present in '76. Still have it. Think I"ll make a print.

This morning is so grey and miserable looking that I thought

we needed cheering up. I certainly do. This wee painting is

Volissos on the Greek island of Chios. It will be going to Devon

in mid April for my exhibition which opens around the 22nd.

Glasgow Green. I like the contrast between the Nelson monument

and the chimney.

Doesn't look like we'll have a white Christmas but we nearly did.

This was last week.

This is 'Thai Textile with Lillies'. Just back from the framer and

in line for my solo show in Devon in April.
