Spanish landscape

I'm very fond of this landscape. Now then...who would like to buy it. It's on special offer all autumn!

Fruit Farm painting

It's time we had a painting. This is of a fruit farm in Portugal. I liked the white buildings sitting by the deep greens of the fruit trees.

The Chooky Brae

One of the best young writers around at the moment is D C Jackson. The Chooky Brae is the third in his extremely funny trilogy based in Stewarton in Ayrshire. Check out the
touring dates and go and see it.

Elephants

Amazed at the elephants eye lashes. Went walking with elephants..fabulous.

Evening colours

On the coast north of Cape Town the sun sets over the ocean and the colours are wonderful.

Just one of the works in a new exhibition currently running at The Mussell Inn in Hope Street in Glasgow. They have a nice gallery upstairs. Runs until October 6th.
Official opening this Thursday evening 5-8pm.

Summer Picture Show

Opening today at Thompson's Marylebone in London. That's my painting in the window and on the poster. Love it.

I like a good clear shadow and a bit of colour.

Sue Biazotti

Sue Biazotti's lovely organized and clean work table is a sight to behold. I gaze at it in wonder and awe. My own disorganized mess of a work table lingering in my mind at one and the same time.

I do know that once in full fling Sue's table becomes awash with paint and mess but still...that in between painting sessions cleanliness and order amazes me. What doesn't amaze is that the same attention to clean lines, colour and detail comes through in her paintings. No more so than in this new batch of colourful semi circles. Very happy, spiritual...a sense of growing and release.
These are paintings that cannot fail to uplift the viewer.

This is one of many paintings stored in the studio. I'm thinking of having a studio sale in the autumn. Time to clear the storage area.

These lovely little penguins live on the shore south of Cape Town... near Simon's Town on the way to the Cape.

In August and September I'll be having an exhibition of sketches, water colours and oils in the gallery at The Mussell Inn in Glasgow. More later.

Ruth Nicol

Ruth Nicol is one of this years graduates from Edinburgh College of Art. Ruth is also joining the 'Riverside' project and her work will be on show at Kelvingrove in the last two weeks of November.

Lisa Kelly McNairn

Having just graduated from Glasgow School of Art, Lisa's work can be seen at the New Graduates exhibition in The Kelly Gallery in Glasgow from July 3rd to 24th.
Lisa is also taking part in Riverside.....the Riverside Museum Appeal Exhibition project which will be in Kelvingrove Museum and Art Galleries in late November.

Ah the joys of the Ritz Cafe in Millport. Like a time warp. Wonderful ice cream.

On the beach

OK I'm fed up with South Africa. Went for a walk on the beach at Troon and found all these fisherman's gloves. Don't they look great.

These are two of the debating chambers in the South African Parliament buildings. The bottom picture is the current Parliament chamber. On the left hand side front row by the Speakers podium is a seat with the coat of arms carved at the front of the desk. This is where Jacob Zuma sits.
The dark chamber in the first photo is the old one where the apartheid laws were passed in the sixties. Today the ANC use it for committee meetings. You have to admit that's quite amusing.

Lunch in the Company Gardens. Nice place to sit.

Right in the middle of down town Cape Town are the Company Gardens. Started by the Dutch as vegetable and fruit gardens to re-supply ships which made it that far south, the gardens are now a recreational area much used by Capetonians and tourists alike. There is a great wee restaurant in the gardens which is a popular place to lunch. Part of the old gardens now house Government buildings and the South African National Gallery.

Our tour of South Africa continues with a look at Green Point Stadium where tonight England play Algeria. There is the players eye view as they enter the stadium through the players entrance. The players warm up court. The players bathrooms...and the stadium interior.

SO...back to our little tour of South Africa. This is Green Market Square right in the centre of Cape Town. The market stretches through the main square and surrounding pedestrian walkways.
