Today should be sunny and the daffodils should be out. In reality it is raining and the daffodils are staying closed. This is a wee reminder to them that they should open soon.

The queue last night in George Square for the private view of the Glasgow Art Fair. It runs until Sunday. Lots of galleries...thousands of paintings and prints. Well worth a visit.

The Art Fair opens Wednesday evening and runs until Sunday. It's a must.

Colin Brown

Colin Brown who was an Aspect Prize finalist several years ago and has since been extremely successful is now exhibiting in the Spring Exhibition at Richard Hagens gallery in Broadway in Worcestershire. The exhibition runs until March 20th. For those of you who do not know his work then do visit fineart@richardhagen.com
Colin is having a solo show in the autumn with Panter & Hall in Mayfair.

First anniversary

Yesterday, I'm told, was the first anniversary of this blog. Let's celebrate with a little colour.

The Bees

Over at a friends farm the bees are beginning to stir. After the long winter there is just enough heat in the middle of the day to tempt the bees out into the fresh air. What they do now is give the hive a really good clean. It's been a few months since they have ventured out so the hive is a bit messy. A few days of cleaning and the hive will be refreshed and the bees ready for Spring.

New Colourists Exhibition

The New Colourists Exhibition at The Mansfield Park Gallery in Glasgow opened this weekend. It features myself, Liz Knox, Michael G Clark, John Kingsley, Kirsty Wither, Sandy Murphy and Neil Macdonald.
It's a good looking show and worth a visit. Certainly the best exhibition of the year so far. Runs until the 27th so plenty of time to drop by and enjoy the paintings.

A great time was had by all when 'Beyond The Blues' played in the village hall on Saturday. The evening lasted nearly three hours and was just terrific. They have put together what can only be described as a 'roadshow' with several sets highlighting different styles of music though the majority of the concert was the blues.

Felt like some autumn colour. These leaves were in a friends garden.

The Aspect Prize Finalists Exhibition

These two photos were taken in The Fleming Collection gallery just before the opening of the finalists exhibition. It's a lovely gallery and the work looked great.

Graham Murray

This is 'City Lights' by the late Graham Murray. Graham was an art teacher who taught in and around Glasgow. During the war Stanley Spencer lodged with Graham and his wife Charlotte and worked on his shipyard drawings and paintings.

Graham exhibited regularly with the RGI and in several galleries up and down the country.
This painting belongs to his niece Elsie in Australia.

Mansfield Park gallery

Coming soon is an exhibition at the Mansfield Park Gallery in Glasgow. I'll have more details in a day or two but the painting of the old pick up truck will be one of the works on show.
