Another child's card from the fifties for
playing Snap.

Tuesday 29 January 2013

Couldn't resist putting more of the cards on. I used
to play Snap with these when I was a kid. (Giving
my age away now)

This is a silhouette 'taken' in 1830 at the
Hubard Gallery of one John Blake of
Chester. Once badly framed hence the
marking. Unsigned. In these days before
photography you had either a silhouette
or a portrait. Miniatures were popular but
silhouettes affordable.

This is the business card of my great great great grandfather.
Amazing to find it.

The reason I've not been doing my blog daily is
that Im clearing out my late mother's house and
it is taking forever. I do keep finding interesting
things though...like this signed photograph of
William Booth who started the Salvation Army.

It's a frosty morning so I thought we'd all need a wee reminder
of summer.

Happy new year everyone. I'll try and be better at
posting than I have been for the last two months.
Circumstances kept me away. Thought I'd start with
a wee ink and gouache sketch by the late Graham
Murray. It's not a very good photo...done on an
iphone in the gloom of a corridor.
